Help

For community groups

Your listing on My Noticeboard is free. Keeping it right helps people find you, and helps link workers and GP practices send people your way.

We list community-led and voluntary activity: groups, charities, clubs, churches, community venues and public services. We do not list commercial events or businesses.

1. Take charge of your listing

  1. Find your group’s page, using search. If you are not listed, tell us where your group is announced or email us.
  2. Choose “Manage this listing”. You will be asked to sign in: we email you a link, and there are no passwords.
  3. Prove you are part of the group, in one of three ways:
    • sign in with an email address on your group’s own website domain;
    • we send a six-digit code to the email address on your listing, and you type it in;
    • or ask a curator to approve you.

Several people in a group can manage the same listing.

2. Update your details

  • On your listing, choose “Suggest a change to this listing”. As a member of the group, most changes appear straight away: description, times, phone numbers, website.
  • A change of name, or saying the group has stopped, is checked by a curator first.
  • Your changes are recorded with the date. Each listing shows when it was last checked, so a recent update makes people more confident to come.
  • You can suggest a picture for your listing. A curator checks it before it appears.

3. Add and manage events

  • Add an event from your organisation’s page. It appears straight away.
  • On an event, choose “Cancel a date or update this event” to:
    • set the timetable: every week, every other week, a set week each month, or once;
    • choose whether it runs on bank holidays, and the last date if it ends;
    • cancel one date, or mark a date as full;
    • say it has stopped altogether. It ends on its last date, and its page stays, saying it has finished.
  • People who added your events to their calendar see cancellations there.

4. “Is this still right?” emails

About once a year we email the address on your listing to ask whether it is still right. You do not need an account to answer. The email has one link with three choices:

  • Yes, this is all correct: the listing shows as checked today.
  • Something needs changing: we send you a sign-in link so you can update it yourself.
  • This has stopped running: a curator updates the listing.

If we hear nothing, we send one reminder. After that, the listing is marked “may be out of date” until someone checks it. If you would rather we did not email you about listings, use the stop link in any of our emails. Your listing stays, and you can still update it.

5. Keep your contact details private

If your listing uses someone’s own mobile or personal email, you can choose who sees each number and address. On your listing, open the contact page, then for each one choose:

  • Everyone: shown on the listing (the usual choice).
  • Professionals only: shown only to verified link workers and curators.
  • Nobody: hidden. People send you a message through the site instead, and we forward it to you by email. You see their email address and can reply. We do not keep the message.

You can turn messages through the site off. Your hidden details never appear on the website or in the data we share with others.

6. If your group stops

On your listing, choose “Report that this has stopped” and give the last date. The listing then says it is no longer running, so nobody makes a wasted journey. If you start again, tell us and we will put it back.

7. Help us keep it right from your own website

Our software reads groups’ own public web pages and suggests updates, which are checked before they appear. You can help by putting your regular times and events on your own website, Facebook page or newsletter, and sending us the address. If you have a web developer, ask them to add event information that search engines understand (schema.org) or a calendar feed: details for developers.

8. Getting help

Email [email protected]. If someone else manages your listing and has left the group, tell us and we will sort it out.
