Privacy notice
My Noticeboard is a free, community-run directory. We collect as little about people as we can. This notice explains what we keep, why, and what you can do about it.
If you just use the site
You can search, browse, print and add events to your calendar without an account. We do not use advertising or tracking, and we do not use analytics cookies.
- If you use My picks, your list is kept in a cookie on your device. It holds only the listings you picked, and we do not see it unless you open your list.
- Our network provider, Cloudflare, sees your internet address to deliver pages and block attacks, and may set a short-lived security cookie.
- We keep the server’s own logs for 14 days. We do not keep records of which pages people visit.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional. We send a link to your email address instead of using a password, and set a cookie so you stay signed in. We keep:
- your email address, and your role (for example link worker or curator) and team, if you have one
- your work email address, if you ask for professional access, so we can check it once a year
- the resource sheets and lists you save, and which ones you follow, so we can email you when something on them changes
- changes you suggest, problems you report and checks you make on listings, so we can publish them and show where information came from
- the organisations you manage, if you claim one
We use this only to give you what you asked for and to keep listings accurate. We never sell it or use it for marketing. Do not put anyone’s name or health details in a sheet’s title: give them its link or a printout instead.
Groups and organisations listed here
Listings come from groups themselves, from the earlier Jurassic Coast directory, and from information groups publish on their own websites. We publish an organisation’s contact details, such as its phone number and email address. We do not publish personal details of named individuals: staff are listed by their role. We may email a listed contact to ask whether a listing is still right. Any group can ask us to correct or remove its listing.
Listings are open data, so other services may use them. See the licence in the footer.
Who else handles data for us
- Oracle Cloud runs the website and its database, in London.
- Cloudflare delivers the website and protects it from attacks.
- SiteGround sends our emails, such as sign-in links and change alerts.
- Backblaze stores our encrypted backups, in the EU.
- We may use an AI service to read groups’ public web pages. It is never given anything about people who use the site.
How long we keep things
- Sign-in links: 15 minutes. Staying signed in: up to 30 days.
- Your account and saved sheets: until you delete them.
- Server logs: 14 days. Backups: 35 days.
- When you delete your account, your saved sheets, follows and sign-in are removed. Changes you made that were published stay on the site, but without your name or email.
Your rights
You can see, correct or delete what we hold about you, and object to how we use it. Signed in, you can download your data or delete your account yourself at any time.
For anything else, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month.
If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
