Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS)

Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) is an independent charity providing medical welfare to those who have, and continue to, serve on the frontline.

Services:

Healthcare advice (quicker recovery), mental health (PTSD), financial support access, social isolation, relationships counselling, find housing, substance misuse, prevent suicide, meaningful employment/volunteering.

Op RESTORE:

Veteran health and wellbeing service for anyone who has served at least one day in the UK Armed Forces and, as a result of their service, acquired a significant, lasting physical illness or injury. Only GP referrals; GPs can obtain a referral form by emailing [email withheld]. It seeks to ensure the veteran ‘waits well’ and is seen by the most appropriate clinician for their needs.

National Response Service (NRS)

A phone-based welfare service available to to Armed Forces Community (serving, reservists, veterans), NHS staff, The Merchant Navy, Families/carers

Emotional and practical support to the Armed Forces community, frontline staff and the Merchant Navy when they are on a health care pathway, receiving treatment in hospital, community based health care or at home.

An individual, their family, carers, and health and social care partners, help to find solutions and provide onward supported referrals to other organisations for services.

A reduction in delayed transfer of care (Dtoc), a reduction in frequent attendance at A&E, enables independent living, reduces social isolation, improves wellbeing, and provides a coordinated, holistic approach to accessing the right support, in the right place, at the right time,
