Food Share

At Dorchester Community Church our food bank known as "FOOD SHARE" has been running since 2018 and currently distributes around 90 parcels a week in DT1 and part of the DT2 postcode areas. Parcels can also be collected on Wednesday. A typical food parcel includes bread, bakery items, eggs. fresh fruit and vegetables and these start with items donated by local supermarkets (currently Tesco & Waitrose) the “Fresh Food Bank” and local allotment projects. Any grants or donations we receive enable us to purchase the shortfall needed and help us to add to the nutritional value of the parcels. We aim to support each family or household referred to us for up to 12 weeks; our referrals come from key workers, health care professionals and registered charities working with families and those in need. We do accept personal referrals, provided consent is given to also refer the recipient to Citizens Advice.
